Get ready for one of the best little arts festivals in Metro Atlanta! Pine Lake, located between Decatur and Stone Mountain, will hold its annual arts and music festival, LakeFest, on October 4 & 5. Now in its 14th year, the festival is a celebration of handmade fine arts and crafts, great music, local talent, and community spirit.
This intimate and highly interactive event includes local and regional artist vendors, a Health and Wellness vendor row, live music, a chalk art contest, free classes in the arts, a pet show and parade, and FLOATZILLA – a floating parade of wildly decorated watercraft – with “Whatever Floats Your Boat” as the 2014 theme. Prize money available for winning Floatzilla entries!
Adding to the unique festival experience, a variety of “conversation coves” is provided amongst the vendor tents. These outdoor living rooms offer comfortable seating as well as a place to relax, enjoy a snack, chat with artists and other festival goers, or just soak up the beauty of the lake and surrounding wetlands.
Discover DeKalb is one of the platinum sponsors this year. Festival hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 4, with an additional free concert 6 – 8 p.m., alcohol available for sale; noon-5 p.m. Oct. 5, with a street dance to close out the festival. Free.
