Coming to DeKalb County for the very first time, the American Cornhole Tournament is sure to be a memorable event for all. Discover DeKalb is excited to welcome the Georgia State Championships of Cornhole to Downtown Decatur!

“The sport is basically about tossing a bag into a board with a hole,” said Greg Williams, American Cornhole correspondent. “It’s based on if you’re able to toss the bag into the hole.”

Williams even stated that he was not aware that the tournament was nationally known until he was introduced to this tournament, which is making its way to DeKalb County in early June.

“This is the first time that we’re bringing it to DeKalb,” Williams said. “We want to be the cornhole capital of the south.”

If all goes according to plan, this goal would not be far from their reach as the event is scheduled to make its debut on June 13, and continuing into the 14th. The all-day event will take place at the Decatur Recreational Center beginning at 8:00am and ending at 10:00pm.

While the committee is not aware of the exact number of participants at this year’s festivities, Williams hopes to achieve one goal when it’s all over: “It’s a fun way to connect people,” he said. “[We] just want them to have fun.”
