Spanning 4000 years, from 2000 BC to the twentieth century, from the plains of Mexico to the mountains of Peru, over 436 works of art will offer new interpretations and unique cultural comparisons. The re-installed galleries will offer the public access to new works of art from Mexico, Panamà, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Emory Professor of the Art History and Faculty Curator of Art of the Americas at the Carlos Museum, Rebecca Stone, is the curator of this re-installation.

The Largest Independent Book Festival in the nation returns to the City of Decatur. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Decatur Book Festival Presented by DeKalb Medical is an annual, free book festival that takes place over Labor Day weekend in Decatur, Georgia at several venues located in and around the downtown Decatur Square.

Conceived in 2005 and launched in 2006, the festival brings more than 300 authors to Decatur for the holiday weekend. The authors give readings, talks, and panel discussions. The event is free and open to the public. Authors include Pulitzer Prize winning and best-selling authors of fiction in many genres and nonfiction on diverse topics. The authors come to Decatur from across the country and international points as well.

Seen by more than 25 million people for more than 27 years, the Lasershow Spectacular is an Atlanta favorite. The Laser Canopy creates a dazzling display of neon laser lights featuring characters, stories, graphics and fireworks choreographed to popular musical scores, transforming the park into a natural amphitheater. The newly transformed show is enhanced with Mountainvision, a digital projection technology that adds 3-D like effects without the glasses.

Looking for Arts & Crafts for home decorations or holiday gifts? The annual Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain Park has been consistently voted one of the top five arts & crafts shows in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine, a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event and winner of multiple awards by the Southeast Festival and Events Association.

Despite its growth from a small arts & crafts show to the four day event that it has become today, the Yellow Daisy Festival continues to be a big show with a small-town feel. The mission of re-connecting families and friends with fun, shopping, live entertainment and good food has remained constant over the past forty-two years. Multi-generations of mothers, daughters and grandmothers meander the wooded trails together in search of the perfect item. More than 400 artists and crafters from 38 States and two countries will display their works for your appreciation and purchase. Come enjoy daily live entertainment, Children’s Corner activities, clogging and crafter demonstrations throughout the event as well as fabulous festival foods.
