Decatur to Emory Scenic Roll

BikeDeKalb - Decatur to EmoryThe Decatur to Emory Scenic Roll is a delightful bike ride that directs you to the campus along low-traffic residential roadways. Emory University is a gorgeous, tree canopied school surrounded by equally beautiful neighborhoods.

There are many ways to get to Emory, but we’ve designed a ride that will have you wanting to “stop and smell the roses,” or at least slow down enough to gaze at the beautiful mansions perched high on the hills at Lullwater Park in one of Metro Atlanta’s premier neighborhoods, Druid Hills. Druid Hills Historic District was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

With the exception of crossing major intersections with traffic lights, you’ll be traveling through many of the gorgeous neighborhoods that offer gently rolling terrain and friendly motorists. Be sure and check out the business district just outside the front gate where great restaurants, bars and boutique shopping can be found.

Near mile marker 4, the route connects with PATH (an off-road path made specifically for bikers, runners and skaters), and if you wanted, you could take the PATH trail all the way into Atlanta.

Although this route is only 7 miles, we encourage you to venture into the surrounding blocks and explore the beautiful neighborhoods between Decatur and Emory University. This route could easily turn into a 15-mile adventure. This route is equally enjoyable reversed.
