American Cornhole Tournament Discover DeKalbCornhole is more that just tossing beanbags before sporting events. It has turned into a serious competition with leagues popping up all over the country. Sports DeKalb was in Downtown Decatur over the weekend for the Georgia State Championships of Cornhole. We partnered with the American Cornhole Organization for two days of beanbag tossing, music, fun, and a little good-natured trash talking.

We kicked off the event Friday evening in Decatur Town Square for the Cornhole Social Tournament. Seasoned cornhole veterans and newcomers alike joined in the fun attempting to sink beanbags, listening to music, and enjoying the restaurants and bars along the square. The Friday night event drew a large crowd of families and onlookers that joined in the fun.

Saturday morning bags were flying to crown a new Georgia Cornhole Champion. The tournament moved into the Decatur Recreation Center. The first half of the day was dedicated to the ACO Singles State Championship. Boards were set up throughout the Rec Center for a traditional double elimination tournament. After the singles tournament, the ACO Doubles State Championship tournament played throughout the afternoon.

Players came from all over the state in an attempt to win a customized championship jersey and a golden ticket for advances placement in the ACO World Championships.Cornhole in Decatur Squre
