Stone Mountain Park’s Lasershow Spectacular™ is an Atlanta tradition and is the longest running lasershow in the world. It’s one adventure after another as Stone Mountain Park presents Summer at the Rock. The all-new Campfire at the Edge of the Universe live show is a highly interactive production that gets the whole audience involved in an outdoor adventure with a futuristic feeling of exploration. Don’t miss the all-new show, Ritmo Blu, a dynamic world percussion trio that brings to the stage a performance that is both educational and entertaining. With up to 100 instruments on stage, gathered from all over the world, this accomplished ensemble presents international drumming and songs the whole family can enjoy. Summer can get warm in Georgia so cool off in the new Foam Pit, full of fun bells and whistles and of course, foam! Conclude the day with a visit with Rockman as he slowly emerges from his igneous dwelling.

Shrew: the Musical

A Georgia Shakespeare favorite returns! This musical adaptation of TheTaming of The Shrew is set in 1930s Palm Beach, with Petruchio and Kate singing, dancing and matching wits like Fred and Ginger. It’s fun for the whole family. Georgia Shakespeare Festival endures by telling the world’s best stories in a fresh, innovative and accessible manner. The theater is located on the campus of Oglethorpe University.

Geckos: Tails to Toepads

Explore the amazing world of geckos in this collection of more than 18 live gecko species, from shadowy nighttime hunters with unbelievable camouflage to neon-colored nectar eaters that scamper around in daylight. Learn about their night vision, magnify gecko toepads, listen to gecko voices, watch video clips of geckos in action, try to spot camouflaged geckos and build a custom gecko for various environments.

Callanwolde’s popular summertime coffee house series returns with live music, coffee and refreshments and open-mic poetry readings. Held in the unique setting of the Callanwolde Library, the evening begins at 7:30 with a compelling musical performance by poet, songwriter and musician Kodac Harrison. Harrison combines character studies and tales of travel with his bluesy, folk-soul music. Then at 8:15, the open mic readings are open to poets who would like to read their original poetry.

Gwen Hughes, multiple winner of Creative Loafing’s “Best Jazz Artist” award, swings with a mix of elegant jazz, earthy blues and a little rock ‘n’ roll. Her band The Retro Jazz Kats, blend all these influences seamlessly to create a completely memorable evening of music.

Learn to appreciate authentic Argentine tango! You will learn about the rhythm and movement of Argentine Tango and how to focus on connecting with the music and your partner. Learn how two bodies can move as one! Dancers of all skill levels are welcome and no partner is necessary. The evening begins at 8:00 pm with an introductory lesson from the expert instructors of Tango Rio. After the introductory lesson, you will be ready to try out your new moves with an open tango dance party, beginning at 9:15 pm.
