Gala Atlanta Send-Off Scheduled for Friday, July 20
(New York, NY)……Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Angelo Taylor is packed and ready to leap over the water to London, to compete in his 4th Olympic Games.
The Atlanta, GA native is a track and field standout (400 meter hurdles) who brought home Olympic Gold Medals in the 2000 and 2008 Summer Olympics. The only other Olympic athlete to win Gold Medals 8 years apart is the legendary Edwin Moses, so Angelo Taylor is definitely a young legend.
The 33 year old will be feted at a gala send-off in Atlanta, GA on Friday, July 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Morris Brown College (Hickman Student Center Cunningham Auditorium) 715 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Highlights of his outstanding career will be shown, as well- wishers bid him bon voyage to continue his historic run in London.
Taylor achieved his first major track and field breakthrough at age 21, when he earned an individual Gold medal out of Lane One in the 400 meter hurdles and a team Gold Medal as a member of the 4×4 relay at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He matched his 2000 breakthrough by winning double Gold medals in the 400mh and 4×4 relay at the 2008 Olympics.
