About the Atlanta Silverbacks:
The Atlanta Silverbacks are Atlanta’s only professional soccer team. They were founded in 1995 as the Atlanta Ruckus of the A-League. They have been known as the Atlanta Silverbacks since 1998. The name was inspired by Willie B., a Silverback gorilla who was one of the main attractions at ZOO Atlanta until his death in 2000.
Currently, the Silverbacks play in the North American Soccer League (NASL) and play their home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park here in Atlanta’s DeKalb County. The stadium is located in Chamblee, GA and seats 5,000 fans.
